So What?
📖 Scripture: Matthew 8:1–4
✨ Key themes: Jesus’ Authority, Compassionate Touch
Fresh off the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew shifts from Jesus’ words to Jesus’ works—the proof behind His authority. A leper approaches, worships, and prays with humble faith: “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Jesus does the unthinkable—He touches the untouchable and says, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately, the man is healed.
This moment reveals the King’s heart: He is both able and willing. His touch restores dignity, His word brings wholeness, and His command to show the priest (Lev. 14) becomes a public testimony to hardened religion that the Messiah has come. For us, it’s a call to move from talk to action—meeting people where they are, extending the love of Christ to those the world avoids, and trusting Jesus as our first and only hope for cleansing from sin.
